Yesterday AMTIL members were treated to a tour of what is truly an Australian Manufacturing success story.
AMTIL hosted a plant tour of fellow AMTIL member, ANCA's Bayswater Victoria manufacturing facility. ANCA is a global market leading manufacturer of high quality CNC tool and cutter grinders. ANCA is renowned for the flexibility of its tool design software and machines which enable other manufacturers to produce a wide variety of complex tools. These include grinding end mills, profile cutters, burrs and punches.
With origins dating back to 1974 the company through innovation, investment, design, research and engineering excellence, ANCA has a state of the art manufacturing facility that had the touring AMTIL members captivated not only with the manner in which the production facility is set out, but the degree of vertical integration employed in the production process that not only protects the company's IP, but ensures that local content is very high in the final product.
ANCA boasts other offshore manufacturing facilities but prefers to keep the production of its highest end machine tools in Australia for export to Asian, US and European markets.
The AMTIL members taken on the tour were thrilled to learn that ANCA has established its own apprenticeship centre (rare in today's environment) providing apprentices with the opportunity to combine on the job training with their external training, in a supportive environment that produces highly skilled workers, and is an investment in ANCA's future.
AMTIL regularly hosts plant tours in all states which follows its philosophy of Connect, Inform, Grow, as not only did the participating members learn about how a manufacturer such as ANCA operates, the event provided a good opportunity for industry participants to network.
AMTIL Manufacturing membership is just $200- and provides a world of opportunity to Connect, Inform, Grow. To find out more about becoming an AMTIL Member visit www.amtil.com.au or email info@amtil.com.au
