Ellex Precise Launches at AusBiotech 2011
14 Oct 11
In a significant development for the South Australian biotech community, the 2011 AusBiotech Conference, to be held in Adelaide from 16 - 19 October 2011, will coincide with the launch of the new joint venture business “Ellex Precise”.
A partnership between Adelaide-based businesses Ellex Medical Pty Ltd and AMTIL member Precise Global Pty Ltd, Ellex Precise has been established to offer a range of technical and commercial services to support the commercialisation of innovative medical technologies in Australia.
According to Ellex Precise Director Grant Tinney, founder of Precise Global, the Australian biotech industry is thriving, offering world-class infrastructure and expertise – and significant opportunity for growth of the Ellex Precise business.
“We have a proven track record in the commercialisation of medical technologies, and will leverage our unique capabilities in the areas of engineering design and development, precision machining and low-volume artisan manufacturing in order to target the growing biotech space.”
“Ultimately, our aim is to help make your concept a commercial reality,” commented Mr. Tinney. “But, unlike other companies focused within the technology commercialsation arena, we take a practical, hands-on approach.” Another of the company’s key capabilities resides in its regulatory expertise.
“Often, the biggest challenge facing a company wanting to bring a new medical technology to market is the need to navigate the regulatory landscape,” said Tom Spurling, Ellex Precise Director and CEO of Ellex.
“Our expert team is skilled in identifying the regulatory requirements necessary for medical device approval, and mapping-out the steps needed to meet these requirements,” said Mr. Spurling.
Indeed, joint venture partner Ellex has more than 25 years’ experience in the regulatory compliance of medical device technologies, centred largely on the Ellex brand of ophthalmic laser and imaging technology, as well as a number of complementary devices and consumables covering the full spectrum of Class I, IIa, IIb, and III classifications.
Attracting more than 1500 delegates annually, the AusBiotech Conference is the premier biotechnology event in the Asia-Pacific region and brings together key stakeholders and professionals from across the biotechnology industry.
“The annual conference offers a host of networking and partnering opportunities,” said Mr. Tinney. “This exposure, combined with our extensive links to the technology, engineering and manufacturing communities in Australia, ideally situates the Ellex Precise business to support the commercialization of new technologies in the biotech space, both here and internationally.”
Ellex Precise will exhibit at booth #38 at the 2011 AusBiotech Conference in Adelaide from 16-19 October.
